Over the past 3 years, the teaching passion of teachers from 34 schools has given birth to a
"Capabel" learning community, called WELNET.
WELNET is formed by a group of enthusiastic educators committed to providing a one-stop solution to support quality education in Hong Kong. Through WELNET, teachers and students can gain access to a wide variety of learning content, IT-mediated learning and monitoring tools for in-class teaching and self-learning, as well as a range of capacity building CPD programmes.
The Web-based English Learning System (WELS) is an International award winning education system that provides a variety of web-based education tools for teachers to exploit multiple pedagogical approaches and to expand the physical classroom through different online activities underpin by strong e-pedagogical support.
WELS also helps teachers to identify students learning obstacles and needs and to adjust the pedagogies and teaching styles accordingly to fulfill diverse learning needs.
WELS IT-rich curriculum designs and interactive multimedia resources provide a stimulating & motivating environment for teachers in-class activities and students self-regulated learning at home.
As a fruitful resource bank, WELS provides various education resources including interactive multimedia readings, tutorials, learning games, exercises, learning sheets and creative writing tasks for pervasive teaching and learning. These resources can be flexibly combined to form different tailored or supplementary instructional designs to strengthen students language competence (i.e. reading, writing, listening and speaking skills).
Through WELS CPD programmes, teachers will be empowered to proficiently select, organize and schedule the contents according to their school-based as well as personal teaching schedules for their own in-class as well as out-of class teaching and learning.
WELNET provides over 400 interactive multimedia readings, 200 tutorials and 400 learning games that cover a wide variety of themes such as cultures, science, current affairs and civil education.
Over 3,000 exercises, 200 learning sheets and 60 creative writing tasks are made available through WELNET for pervasive teaching and learning. These educational resources can be flexibly combined to form different tailored or supplementary instructional designs to strengthen students language competence (i.e. reading, writing, listening and speaking skills).
Teachers can proficiently select, organize and schedule the contents according to their school-based as well as personal teaching schedules for their own in-class as well as out-of class teaching and learning.
